Summer Reading Programs

Summer Reading 2011 kicked off on Monday, June 6. This year's theme of travel and world culture will allow us to explore worlds of facts and fun -- through reading!  And whether you're one or 100 (or any age in between), our summer program had something for you. What will next year's theme be?

We offered READ-TO-ME Club for babies and toddlers, Summer Reading Club for elementary and middle school children, Teen Summer Reading for older students, and Adult Summer Reading for everyone else.

You can register for 2012 Summer Reading online or at the Library beginning next June! Many of the forms that you need will be available for download, as well as in the Library.

There will be activities planned for each reading club. Check the Children's and Teen pages for schedules of planned activities.

There will be prizes for completing the requirements for each Summer Reading Club.

Each link in the chain represents one book read by children who participated in the 2011 Summer Reading Club.

Last summer's Paper Chain was 1,921 links (451 feet).

Teens celebrated the end of summer reading at our annual TSR Party. Party participants played a riddles icebreaker game, circle game, round of "Jeopardy", scavenger hunt, and wrapped up the party at our make-your-own ice cream sundae buffet line. Winners were then chosen for our Chinese auction; prizes included gift cards to local stores and a backpack worth of free books.
