What is a Discovery Garden?  It’s an outdoor space dedicated to playing, learning, discovering, and exploring!  In partnership with Monroeville Recreation & Parks, our goal is to create spaces throughout the community that will allow people of all ages to explore play in a natural environment. Now more than ever, play is crucial to childhood and cognitive development, as play allows for children to learn to engage and interact with the world around them.

The Gardens will feature a variety of interactive exhibits and installations, located in the Library’s backyard as well as at several Monroeville community park locations. Dynamic exhibits will give everyone a chance to always discover something new every time they visit the Discovery Gardens!

While we are still in the early planning stages, activities will encourage climbing, splashing, digging, jumping, strolling,  learning, and more!

The Discovery Gardens will also include spaces for outdoor programming, taking in the natural world, and relaxing with family, friends, or a good book.

Learning can take place both inside of a building or outside with nature, because you can take your imagination everywhere!
